A few people probably visit this site and say to themselves, “This guy is writing this stuff just to make money.” If that were true, I would have given up years ago. You see, money has never been a motivator for me.
The truth is I do care. It’s like I have an endless well of caring. I’m not sure where it comes from. My guess is the deep pain I felt at particular points in life—mostly in my teens and early adulthood.
I can immediately identify and feel compassion when someone is in pain, even a stranger or an acquaintance. When I ask someone who I sense is struggling, “How are you doing?” it’s sincere, and I’m really interested.
My intense drive to overcome my pain and weaknesses has given me a nearly insatiable desire to improve myself and my environment. This drive propelled me to extraordinary success in college, in the corporate world, and throughout my life. However, toward the end of my corporate career, I longed for work that made a big positive difference in people’s lives—something people really wanted and needed—not “things” they were persuaded to buy through marketing tactics, which I now see as manipulation tactics.
This website’s blog is an expression of all of the above. I’m sharing what I’ve learned in the hope that people like you who visit will benefit in a way that makes a difference.
I know I’m reaching some people, as I’ve gotten heartfelt emails from around the world. These emails uplift and spur me on in a big way.
If I can inspire one percent, then I’ve achieved my vision. That is not too bad, considering that one percent of the world’s population is 78 million. 😀
