People captivated by tiny living seem to share many of the same qualities. Here’s a list of my observed characteristics and details on why each fits and/or is true.
People who are drawn to the tiny lifestyle are…
- Smart – Being intelligent is a prerequisite, as I see it. Dim-witted people wouldn’t be able to recognize the brilliance and beauty of tiny living.
- Principled – Principles lead people to tiny living and keep them committed.
- Focused – The ability to stay on purpose is needed because tiny living is unconventional and relatively new.
- Tenacious – It takes determination to persuade local authorities to allow them to build a small house or community.
- Innovative – It requires creativity to find ways to make the most of small spaces and things.
- Optimistic – Positive people see the advantages of tiny living. Negative people see the disadvantages.
- Idealistic – They imagine what’s possible for the ultimate lifestyle and do it.
- Enthusiastic – Tiny living offers so many great opportunities that it’s impossible not to get excited.
- Resourceful – All pioneers are imaginative, even if they didn’t start out that way.
- Frugal – The financial rewards are one of the biggest incentives for tiny living. And only a person who’s smart about money matters could appreciate this.
- Unconventional – The nonconforming lens through which they view the world inspires them to go down this less-traveled path.
- Environmentalists – Love of nature inspires them to protect it in every area of their lives.
- Compassionate – They readily share what they know about tiny living so others can benefit.
- Kind – A person cannot have the above qualities without being kind. It would not work.
I’m sure there are more, but this is what I’ve observed so far.
