Having a small house and a small motorhome provide ultimate freedom! The small house frees you financially and the small motorhome frees you geographically.
Since buying and maintaining a small house is much less expensive, your ability to buy and operate a small motorhome is much more within reach. Most people with big houses can’t afford to buy a motorhome, much less pay for the maintenance and gas.
One of the major appeals of a small house and tiny living is that you have more freedom because you have more money and time. A small motorhome extends your freedom to the entire continent where you live. It also empowers you to spend time in beautiful natural environments and leave the moment you’re ready to move on.
A small motorhome offers many of the same advantages as a small house. It is less expensive to buy, maintain, and fuel. As with small houses, it takes less time to clean. It is also easier to maneuver, park, and store/garage. Garaging is not even a possibility for a large motorhome.
The smallest motorhome is the Class B. These are constructed on a van chassis with raised roof lines. The designers of these tiny motorhomes have gotten very creative in the efficient use of space, water, and fuel. Through these innovations, many of the comfort features you used to see only in larger motorhomes are now cleverly built into the Class B. Many of the Class Bs now even come with a private bathroom with an enclosed shower, which is a must as far as I’m concerned.
Class C is the next size up, and Class A is the largest motorhome (land yacht). I know the classification system doesn’t make any sense. Since Class B is the smallest, it seems logical that it would be classified at one end of the scale—A or C. It must have been an afterthought.
Since a motorhome can contain a lot of technology and expensive equipment like a heavy-duty engine and transmission, a new one can be more expensive than a small house. But if you factor in the cost of the land on which the small house is built, they could be about the same price. To give this perspective, compare this scenario to the cost of buying a big house and a big Class A motorhome. I would estimate that the cost would be more than double. Then you’d have to compare the cost to maintain and fuel them. Again, I would estimate the cost of the big house and big motorhome to be two to three times more. And I’d lean in favor of three times more approximation.
Can you envision your small house and small motorhome lifestyle? Picture your striking small house on a beautiful piece of land with your sleek small motorhome and small (micro) car comfortably parked inside your garage.
Now, picture your small motorhome parked next to the ocean, a lake, or a stream. Then imagine being able to go there whenever you want without concerns about having enough money or time. That’s the ideal setup.
