What’s Keeping You From a New Relationship?

What is keeping you from starting a new romantic relationship? Is it a past painful breakup or betrayal? Or is it your own insecurities and lack of self-confidence? Or both?

There is one thing I have repeatedly experienced and can guarantee: Your next relationship will be better than the previous ones. How? Why? That’s easy.

You have learned, grown, and matured since your last relationship. You now know better than before how to pick a compatible partner, develop a relationship, and maintain it. Think about it. Is this not true? Or do you have a few serious matters to address first? Perhaps you do. And recognizing that proves you have progressed significantly since your last relationship.

So, what is it that you need to work on? Is it your weight, addiction, debt, or attitude? If so, get busy and fix them. You don’t need to get perfect before figuring out the whos and hows to finding an ideal partner, but you need to be firmly on your way. No fudging or fooling yourself here. You need a deep feeling of meaningful advancement in yourself. This will give you the equilibrium, confidence, and strength you need for a healthy relationship.

If courage is the problem, there is only one way to get it. Do what you’re afraid of, and then you’ll get the courage. The same goes for overcoming shyness.

Looking back is a waste of time unless you’re using it to learn and grow. But don’t spend too much time on this. You’ll be better served by focusing on today, your plan for tomorrow, and your vision for a quality relationship that is equally yoked.

Why wait? Begin…now!
